Poetry Box

For Christmas 2019, I made my partner a box that displays a random poem on an e-Ink screen. The main inspiration was a short story dispenser that we came across at the Austin Public Library. After seeing this, I saw several projects on r/arduino of people making their own poem dispensers and the like. Not wanting to waste paper, I decided to make my own using the Pimoroni wHAT e-Ink display, a Raspberry Pi Zero W, and an old cigar box.

Points Delicats

Points Delicats was my final project for a class in Computer Organization and Machine Language. The assignment required we build a device that interacts a Raspberry Pi with hardware, with the caveat that all GPIO interactions must be written in assembly. Since one of my teammates is interested in building devices for the visually impaired, we settled on displaying a braille message on a LED matrix based upon text entered into a console. Points Delicats acts mostly as a proof of concept since displaying braille as LED light may not be the most useful thing ever made. This post details my contributions to the project.

libdigitone

libDigitone is a portable SysEx library written in python for the Elektron Digitone. This library was started before the Digitone was added to the Overbridge family of devices. You can find the source code here. Future plans include translating the library into C and Swift to allow an easier integration with desktop computers and Apple devices.
